Q: Which is better hardwired or wireless?
A:  It really depends on the application. Hardwired is almost always more expensive unless there is a ton of existing wiring. Most homes are not wired and thus a wireless system would make more sense.  The wireless systems today have batteries that last 5-10 years and are very dependable. Since most people get wireless systems they come with the most features for free.

Q: Do I need to get a cell radio?
A: If you do not have a landline phone with a phone or cable company you would need to. If you are worried about someone cutting your phone line you could add it for extra security but it is not needed.

Q: Can my alarm use VOIP for monitoring?
A: Maybe, but most likely not. Since VOIP has brief outages from time to time the security industry has stayed away from using it as a reliable communication method.

Q: Can I get a security system without a contract?
A: Yes. You can either do a contract and get equipment for free or you can buy the equipment and go month to month.
